At Abba Dental, we know how important it is to protect your face while playing sports. Summer, which is right around the corner, brings an increase in outdoor activities and a greater chance of damaging your precious mouth and pearly whites. That’s why Drs. Keith Lim and Baha Azizi are doing our part to spread the word that facial sports injuries can be avoided simply by reminding your kids to wear mouth guards. Ask us—Drs. Lim or Azizi will provide a mouth guard for any patient in active treatment. In addition, here are some tips for keeping your mouth safe on the field, courtesy of our friends at the American Association of Orthodontists:
• Wear mouth guards during contact sports
• Wear a helmet
• Stretch before and after a game or practice
• Wear protective eye wear
• Wear a face shield to avoid scratched or bruised skin
• Be observant—even as a spectator
Whether you are an athlete or casual sports participant, you should wear a mouth guard to protect your teeth. If you grind your teeth while you sleep, a bite guard will help reduce symptoms of TMJ. We custom make mouth guards in both soft and hard materials. Please give us a call at 604-688-7201 to learn more about mouth guards!
